How to Use AutoScribe Express

AutoScribe Express allows you to start documenting immediately, without having to enter patient information in advance. It’s perfect for walk-in visits, urgent situations, or rapid note-taking.

Using AutoScribe Express – Step by Step

Step 1: Launch AutoScribe Express

  • Click the microphone icon.

    • If you have no scheduled appointments, an AutoScribe Express encounter will automatically begin.

    • If you do have scheduled appointments but still want to use Express mode, click the “AutoScribe Express” button.

Step 2: Encounter Starts Automatically

  • Recording begins immediately.

  • The patient will appear as “Patient 001” by default.

Step 3: Ending and Saving the Encounter

  • After you click “End Encounter”, the visit will appear in your dashboard.

  • It will remain labeled as “Patient 001” unless you edit the name and/or date of birth.

Important: You have 48 hours to edit, submit, or copy/paste the note into your EMR.
After 48 hours, all associated data is automatically and permanently deleted.


How to Label an AutoScribe Express Encounter

  • At the top of the encounter screen, click the pencil icon next to “Patient name”.

  • Enter the correct name and date of birth to properly identify the encounter.


How to Delete an Encounter

You can delete encounters from both:

  • Active Encounters page

  • Submitted Encounters page

To delete:

  1. Highlight the encounter you wish to delete.

  2. Click “Delete Encounter” at the bottom of the page.

  3. Type “delete” to confirm.

Note: Once an encounter is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
