How to Copy a Clinical Note in AutoScribe

AutoScribe gives you multiple options to copy a clinical note into your EMR. You can copy it while the note is still being edited or after it’s already been submitted.

Copying a Clinical Note While It Is Still Active

Option 1: Copy without submitting

  1. While in the encounter screen, click on the clipboard icon next to “Clinical Note”.

  2. This allows you to copy the current version of the note to your clipboard without submitting it.

    • This is useful if you want to use the note in another template (ex. referral letter) while also copying it into the patient’s chart.

Option 2: Submit & Copy

  1. Once you have finished editing the note, go to the top right corner of the gray bar.

  2. Click “Submit & Copy”.

    • If you are using the OSCAR Chrome/Firefox extension, this button will instead say: “Submit to EMR”.

  3. The note will be:

    • Copied to your clipboard so you can paste it directly into the EMR.

    • Moved from “Active” to “Submitted” in the Encounter dashboard.

Copying a Clinical Note After It Has Been Submitted

  1. Go to the “Encounters” page.

  2. Switch to the “Submitted” tab to view all completed or auto-submitted encounters (after 48 hours or 28 days, depending on your plan).

  3. Select the encounter you want to copy.

  4. Click the “Copy Note” button located at the bottom of the page.

  5. A confirmation pop-up will appear to show that the note has been copied to your clipboard.

  6. Go to the corresponding patient chart in your EMR and paste the note.

Tip: If you do not see the clipboard icon or “Copy Note” button, make sure your browser extension is correctly installed and you are using a supported browser.
