Using the Scratchpad

The Scratchpad allows you to add information silently during an encounter without verbalizing it in front of the patient.

Steps:

  1. During a live encounter, type any additional notes or clinical thoughts directly into the Scratchpad section if you do not wish to say them out loud.

  2. Once the encounter is ended, the AI will automatically analyze and integrate this information into the final clinical note.

Ideal for sensitive observations, diagnostic impressions, or points you want to remember without verbal disclosure.

Using the Patient History Area

This new section works alongside the Scratchpad and is designed to help you incorporate relevant EMR information directly into the note.

  • You can toggle between the Patient History area and the Scratchpad during an active encounter.

  • This space is ideal for copying and pasting information from the EMR (such as past medical history or medication lists) so that the AI can include it in the final note.

  • Like the Scratchpad, this section is only active while the encounter is “live.”

  • Once the encounter has ended, any information entered will remain visible for your review before finalizing the note.

Useful for quickly bringing EMR data into AutoScribe without manual rewriting.

Using the Patient Handout

The Patient Handout feature allows you to automatically generate a clear, patient-friendly summary of the visit.

Steps:

  1. After you end the encounter and the AI has completed generating the clinical note, select Generate Patient Handout.

  2. Once created, you can choose to:

    • Email the handout directly to the patient, or

    • Print a physical copy to provide during the visit.

This tool is excellent for reinforcing treatment plans, lifestyle advice, medication instructions, or follow-up steps in plain language.
