Step 1 — Open an Unreviewed Note

After completing an encounter or dictation, AutoScribe automatically generates a draft note.

This note appears in your Unreviewed section within Encounter History and can still be modified.

Step 2 — Locate the Auto Assist Bar

At the bottom of the generated note, you’ll see a text box labeled “Modify or add to encounter note…”

This is the Auto Assist field where you can type in natural-language suggestions.

Locate the Auto Assist bar at the bottom of your unreviewed note.

Step 3 — Type Your Suggestion

Simply type what you want AutoScribe to adjust — for example:

  • “Can you make this note more concise?”

  • “Summarize the plan section.”

  • “Add a brief impression statement.”

  • “Simplify the language.”

Then press Enter on your keyboard to apply your suggestion.

Example suggestion: “Can you make this note more concise?”

Step 4 — Review the Updated Note

Auto Assist will automatically update the note in real time based on your input.
You can continue refining until the content meets your expectations.
When you’re satisfied, click Copy & Mark Reviewed to finalize the note.

Quick Tips

  • Use plain, conversational language — no commands or special syntax required.

  • You can make multiple suggestions in a row (e.g., shorten, then simplify).

  • Auto Assist works only while the note is still unreviewed.

  • Once Copy & Mark Reviewed is pressed, the note becomes locked.

Result

With Auto Assist, you can fine-tune your notes instantly — saving time while maintaining accuracy, clarity, and consistency in your documentation.

How to Use AutoAssist (Old UI)

AutoAssist allows you to refine and restructure generated notes using natural language instructions. In the old AutoScribe interface, AutoAssist is accessed through the Note Customization menu and can be used while a note is still editable.

Step 1 — Open an Editable Note

After ending an encounter, AutoScribe generates a clinical note.

As long as the note has not been submitted, it remains editable and AutoAssist can be used to make changes.

Step 2 — Open AutoAssist

Within the encounter view, open the Note Customization dropdown.

From this menu, select AutoAssist to reveal the free text command box.

This is where you will type instructions for the AI to modify your note.

Step 3 — Enter a Natural Language Instruction

Type a clear instruction describing how you want the note changed. For example:

  • Turn the note into a referral letter to Dr. Smith

  • Include direct quotes from the transcript under Subjective

  • Reorganize the note into a SOAP format

  • Rewrite this as a sick note for the patient’s employer

AutoAssist interprets your request and applies the changes automatically across the note.

Step 4 — Review the Updated Note

After AutoAssist applies your request:

  • Review the updated sections for accuracy

  • Make additional AutoAssist requests if needed

  • Manually edit any sections as desired

You may repeat this process multiple times while the note remains editable.

Step 5 — Finalize the Note

Once you are satisfied with the note:

Submit the encounter using the standard submission workflow.

After submission, the note becomes read only and AutoAssist can no longer be used.

Quick Tips

  • AutoAssist works only before the note is submitted.

  • Use clear, complete sentences when entering instructions.

  • You can request major structural changes such as referral letters or work notes.

  • AutoAssist is designed to reduce manual editing and reformatting.

Result

AutoAssist helps you quickly tailor your documentation to different clinical needs using simple text instructions, saving time while maintaining clarity and accuracy.
