Step 1 — Enable Two-Factor Authentication

After logging in, go to Settings and click MFA under your account options.
A setup wizard will open to guide you through enabling MFA.

Click Next to continue.

Select MFA in Settings to begin setup.

Step 2 — Choose a Verification Method

You can choose between two verification methods:

  • Authenticator App — uses a mobile app (e.g., Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or Duo Mobile).

  • Email — sends a verification token to your registered email address.

Select either Authenticator App or Email to proceed.

Step 3 — Set Up an Authenticator App (Option 1)

If you select Authenticator App, you must download an authenticator app to your phone and scan the QR code displayed on screen using your chosen app.

Some options options include Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or Duo Mobile.

Then, enter the 6-digit token generated by the app into the Token field and click Next.

Scan the QR code with your phone’s authenticator app and enter the generated token.

Step 3 — Set Up Email Authentication (Option 2)

If you select Email, AutoScribe will send a one-time token to your registered email.

Enter the token in the Token field to complete authentication.

Check your email for the verification token and input it to verify your login.

Step 4 — Save Your Backup Tokens

Once MFA is set up, you’ll receive single-use backup tokens.
These can be used to log in if your authentication device or email is unavailable.

Store these securely — they can only be viewed once.

Copy your backup codes and store them somewhere safe.

Quick Tips

  • You can re-generate backup codes at any time — this will invalidate old ones.

  • If switching devices, disable MFA temporarily before re-enabling on the new device.

  • MFA applies to all AutoScribe logins — both web and EMR-integrated versions.

  • Tokens from authenticator apps refresh every 30 seconds for added security.

Result

Your AutoScribe account is now protected with Multi-Factor Authentication —
providing a secure login experience for you and your clinic.
